The Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP), a unit of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a university-based research, education and public service center.

Its mission is to promote greater understanding and knowledge of women's relationship to politics and government and to enhance women's influence and leadership in public life. The Center's work focuses on contributing to the greater welfare of the entire community through government and public policymaking. CAWP emphasizes possibilities and opportunities for women to take more active and powerful roles in public leadership. CAWP's activities are concentrated in four areas: education programs, information services, programs for women public officials, and research. A leading authority in the field of Women and Politics, CAWP works to build bridges between the academic and political worlds.
