NEW Leadership™ New Jersey is a program sponsored by the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey to educate, empower and encourage college women to become politically active and to take on leadership roles.
The NEW Leadership™ summer institute is an intensive six-day residential program which will take place June 5 -10, 2008 at the Eagleton Institute of Politics in New Brunswick, New Jersey. During the summer institute, students will meet women leaders, learn about women in American politics, develop and practice leadership skills through panel discussions, workshops and hands-on projects. After the summer institute, participants are encouraged to continue to develop public leadership skills and will be invited to return to CAWP for special events, workshops and programs.
Costs:
CAWP receives donations from corporate sponsors and individuals to cover most program expenses. Each participating college and university is requested to pay a $500 program fee for each of their students attending the summer institute. The program fee covers housing, food, and all program materials for the full six days of the program. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the summer institute.
A limited number of scholarships will be available to students who are unable to obtain sponsorship from their schools.
